THE SWEAT - seeks to break the mould and add something new to the survival genre by being told mainly from the perspective of a black father and his daughter. In part, the story aims to explore how greed, cannibalism, overt discrimination, bigotry and open sexual exploitation could rapidly become the norm in a once civilised, first-world nation, where social-judicial filters, guidance and deterrents cease to exist. 'THE SWEAT' is a post-apocalyptic drama and is the first book in a three-part series, which follows the journey of a black British family, doing all they can to survive a violence-inducing illness, rapidly spreading within London.

Although ‘THE SWEAT’ is a work of fiction and draws focus across many topics, it’s clear and constant thread is homelessness, and the many vulnerabilities that come with it. Fortunately I have never been homeless, and never had to deal with the issues living rough brings. I was deeply moved upon my discovery of the selfless dedication of Solomon Smith, founder of The Brixton Soup Kitchen; A charity that feed and clothe people who have fallen on hard times, and who offer a whole range of services to the community, including supporting people with mental health and acquiring employment. They rely entirely on kind, but intermittent donations from the community to fund services. The passion and dedication of the team behind the Brixton Soup Kitchen is not only an inspiration, but also puts smiles on the faces of families all over the country through the hard work they do on a daily basis.
